If you have been following us for a while, you will notice every month we cover history of our District Lodges, especially on how they survived over several centuries. Needless to say, many lodges have not survived and were eventually erased at some point in history. Founded sometime in 1830s, The Neilgherry Lodge at Ootacamund had similar issues, and was passing through a troubled period during the 1840s, eventually being erased. However, a true desire of masonic spirit among the brethren led at last to it being revived again with a change of name, becoming what we know today, as “The Lodge of Faith, Hope and Charity.”, receiving its warrant from the Grand Lodge dated 24th September 1869, with the number 1285. The lodge continues to grow ever since on its foundation of fraternal love and camradarie, serving the society while bringing good men together. Fun fact: This is our RW District Grand Master’s Mother Lodge.
